Discover a fascinating and lesser-known side of Hue on this full-day private journey through its coastal countryside. Explore the extraordinary tombs of An Bang, discover ancient Cham heritage at Phu Dien Tower, experience traditional village life at My Loi, and finish with a relaxing seafood lunch by the beach.
Pick-up & Travel Time
Your friendly guide and driver will warmly welcome you at your hotel in Hue. Travel toward the coastal countryside to An Bang Village, approximately 35 km from central Hue and around 45–60 minutes by road, passing local villages, lagoons, and rural landscapes along the way.
Highlights & Activities
Begin at An Bang Cemetery, popularly known as the “City of Ghosts” or “City of Tombs.” Walk among an extraordinary collection of elaborate family tombs decorated with colorful mosaics, ceramic dragons, stone sculptures, and architectural details inspired by Hue’s imperial traditions.
Beyond their impressive scale and decoration, the tombs offer a fascinating insight into local beliefs surrounding family, ancestors, prosperity, and the afterlife. Your guide will introduce the cultural stories behind this unusual tradition and explain why generations of local families have invested so much care in creating these elaborate resting places.
Continue along the coastal route to Phu Dien Cham Tower, an ancient brick tower associated with the Champa civilization. Discovered beneath coastal sand in 2001, the structure provides a fascinating glimpse into the Cham cultural heritage that existed in this region long before Hue became an imperial capital. The site continues to appear in current 2026 tours of the area.
Continue to My Loi Ancient Village, where traditional architecture, communal spaces, and village heritage provide another perspective on rural life in Hue. Visit the historic My Loi Communal House, dating from the early 19th century, and learn about local beliefs, community traditions, and the history preserved within this centuries-old village.
Complete your coastal journey at Vinh Hien Beach, where you can relax and enjoy a fresh local seafood lunch near the sea. Take some free time to enjoy the coastal atmosphere or walk along the beach before beginning the journey back to Hue.
Return & Drop-off
After lunch and some time to relax by the coast, meet your driver for the journey back to Hue, approximately 50–60 km and around 1–1.5 hours by road, depending on the route and traffic conditions. We will drop you off at your hotel or any convenient central location of your choice.
