Overview

Chay Lap is a community-owned and operated ecotourism association in Phuc Trach Commune, adjacent to World Natural Heritage site Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. Households living at the doorstep of the National Park provide ecotourism services to foreign and domestic tourists offering the opportunity to homestay in traditional wooden Vietnamese houses provide biking, kayaking and trekking services. Volunteering, studying trips are also available. By staying with Chay Lap, guests directly support conservation of an important World Natural Heritage Site, while driving employment opportunities and income for the families of Chay Lap Village and its surrounding areas. Chay Lap is in a word, stunning.

However, we want to give our guests more than just coal-black evening skies, spectacular limestone cliffs, a raft of activities and an outpost of serenity on the jig-saw-green patchwork of the valley floor. We would like you to enjoy a real slice of Central Vietnam while engaging in what we hope is a rewarding educational experience for all.


  • 08:00 Morning, our guide and driver meet you at your hotel/airport/railways station in Hue, depart to Chay Lap village. Enroute, stop to visit some remained places on the DMZ (Demiliterized Zone) route such as: Hien Luong Bridge, Vinh Moc Tunnels. Lunch at Cua Tung Beach. Arrival Chay Lap in the afternoon, check-in the homestay. Cycling in the National Park for hearing the nature calls. You will have a chance to enjoy the forest life. Some of the rare and valuable wild animals in Red-book have been re-discoverred and preserved there such as: Ha Tinh langur, Annamese Leaf Monkey Trachypithecus hatinhensis, Annamese Macaques, Mountain hockey bird…

    Return the homestay before it gets dark. You are invited to prepare the dinner with the host, the food called: “Steamed Fish with Beer, served along with local herbs”. Enjoy your dinner by your styled. Night at Chay Lap homestay.

    (Today cycling distance is approximately 20km, for amateur cyclists would like to enjoy a fun-biking, the distance can be shortened within 10km)


  • Breakfast at Chay Lap homestay, leave the homestay for a kayking on Chay River to Dark Cave, Nuoc Mooc Springs. Trekking thru’ the Park, learn the codes of conservation environment with the local guide’s suppport. Picnic lunch on the paths in forest, free swimming at Nuoc Mooc Springs before getting on bus to transfer to the boat landing for a cruise on Son River to visit Phong Nha Cave – the World Natural Heritage site. Discover the magnificent beauty of the caves.

    Transfer back Hue via Ho Chi Minh High Way in the late afternoon. Arrive Hue, see you off at your hotel, end the services.

Amendment and Cancellation Policy

● Within 24 hours before departure: Guests pay 100%
● From 24 – 48 hours before departure: Guests pay 50%
● Prior to 48 hours before departure: Guests pay 20%

Children Policy

  • From 12 years old up: pay as an adult.
  • From 5 – 11 years old: Pay 75%
  • Under 5 years old: Free of charge. However, only one under-five free admission per booking. If you have more than two under-five, from the second kid pays 50% each.

Please request in advance if you have a food allergy, you are a vegetarian, you observe Halal or diet menu. Some special requests might be applied with an extra charge:

  • Halal Lunch: 150,000VND(~7$)/Person.
  • Indian Lunch: 150,000VND(~7$)/Person.
  • Diet Menu: To be advised.

What to expect at your homestay:

  • Room includes bed (with mattress), mosquito net, fan, table and chairs, electrical lights and outlets… and a lovely window or balcony.
  • Outhouse is equipped with a clean, flushing toilet.

Extra payment for accommodation in a hotel on request:

  • 3-star hotel: 1,000,000VND(~43$)/Room (1-2 guests)
  • 4-star hotel: 1,400,000VND(~61$)/Room (1-2 guests)

During the tour, you might see some things that you don’t like, such as animals in cages (python, crocodile, frog…). Most of them are managed by local villagers for economic reasons. We don’t promote these activities and we don’t promise those activities in our tours. However, sometimes you will see them by accident on the way without our control. We hope to receive your understanding and sympathy. If you really don’t want this to happen during your tour, please contact us in advance so we can suggest you other suitable programs.
What to bring:

  • We suggest a small suitcase or backpack with comfortable clothes and shoes (sport shoes or flip-flops are fine), sunscreen, and mosquito repellent. Larger luggage can be left at your hotel or with us!
  • Last but not least, bring yourself for a great experience!
