This full-day trip is perfect for those who want to truly understand Viet Nam’s modern history. The morning focuses on Ho Chi Minh City’s landmarks and war sites, while the afternoon takes you out to the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels, one of the world’s most remarkable battlefields. You’ll learn not only about the Viet Nam War but also about the resilience of a nation whose long history of struggle has led to the peace we enjoy today.
Your day begins with a hotel pick-up and a morning exploration of Ho Chi Minh City’s most iconic landmarks. Step inside the Independence Palace, where the Viet Nam War officially ended in 1975, and continue to the War Remnants Museum, home to powerful exhibits and wartime relics.
You’ll also admire the beautiful French colonial architecture of the Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral, and visit the Jade Emperor Pagoda, one of the city’s most atmospheric temples filled with statues, carvings, and incense. A delicious local lunch will be served before heading out of the city.
In the afternoon, enjoy a 1.5-hour drive through the countryside to the Ben Dinh Tunnels in Cu Chi. Upon arrival, watch a short film about the tunnels’ history, learn how traps were used in the jungle, and even crawl through part of the tunnel system to experience life underground. For those interested, there’s also an optional shooting range where you can try firing authentic wartime weapons (extra fee). The visit ends with a taste of boiled tapioca, the humble staple food of the time, before returning to Hồ Chí Minh City in the evening. End of services.
