Overview

This tour takes you beyond the tunnels for a deeper look at life in Cu Chi during the war. At the Liberated Area, you’ll see how villages looked before and during the conflict, giving insight into how daily life changed as the fighting grew more intense. Then, explore the underground network itself and visit the Ben Duoc Temple, a moving memorial to those who sacrificed their lives here. It’s the most insightful way to understand both the tunnels and the people of Cu Chi.

Highlights

  • Step into the “liberated area” to see reconstructions of village houses and learn how soldiers and locals lived and fought between 1961–1972.
  • Explore the vast underground tunnel network that played a crucial role in the Viet Nam War
  • See bomb craters, traps, and wartime relics such as an American tank
  • Visit the Ben Duoc Temple a moving monument dedicated to more than 44,000 soldiers
  • Optional: try out the shooting range (extra fee)
  • Taste boiled tapioca, the staple food of the time

Your guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel, and after leaving Ho Chi Minh City, you’ll enjoy a 1.5-hour drive through the peaceful countryside to the Ben Duoc Tunnels. A short stop may be made along the way for refreshments.

  • Begin at the liberated area, where reconstructed homes and exhibits show what daily life was like for villagers and fighters during 1961–1972.
  • Move on to the tunnel site, starting with a short documentary that explains how the tunnels were built and used in combat.
  • Walk with your guide to learn about ingenious jungle traps and defensive techniques.

  • For the adventurous, try crawling through one of the narrow tunnel sections to imagine how people lived underground.
  • Visit the Ben Duoc Temple, Viet Nam’s largest war memorial, honoring the soldiers who lost their lives in the region.
  • Optional stop at the shooting range, where visitors can fire wartime weapons (extra fee).

  • End the visit with a rest and a taste of boiled tapioca, the simple yet vital food that sustained fighters during the war.

After the visit, relax on the drive back to Ho Chi Minh City, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.End of services.
